about
In Elegy (2022) for solo piano, Jonty takes the elegy not as it is traditionally understood (as a song of death and mourning) but rather as an optimistic, slightly nostalgic, homage to things yet to come. Loss can be sad, but it is also fertile ground for new beginnings.
Performed by Milda Daunoraite.
Premiered 14th January 2022 in the Concert Room, Royal Academy of Music, London.
